Selecting The Finest Electric Forced Air Furnace
There are numerous advantages to having forced air temperature control versus older forms of temperature control: the temperature remains much more even, forced air is more energy efficient and repairs to forced air systems are broadly much more affordable than repairs to a recalcitrant radiant heating system, for example. However, there are some simple measures that you can do to maintain your forced air electric forced air furnace that’ll keep it from encountering problems that require significant repairs, the simplest of which is inspecting its air filters on a ordinary basis.
Because air filters are responsible for providing your indoor space with cleaner air, they can easily become clogged with debris that cuts down on your heating and cooling efficiency and, over time, can cause your forced air electric forced air furnace to age prematurely. Electric forced air furnaces generally have two types of air filters: permanent filters and disposable filters. Permanent filters should be cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instructions, but disposable filters should be checked periodically (monthly during winter) to make sure that they haven’t become caked with debris.

After removing the door or panel, you will find the removable narrow mounted under the blower motor; slide it out and check the wording on the filter’s edges to see whether it should be cleaned or replaced with a brand new narrow. If the narrow is disposable, record its specs and buy a replacement filter that matches. Then all you have to do is slide the brand new filter into place with the correct side pointing up and secure the panel that conceals the blower motor.
Replacing the disposable filter on your forced air electric forced air furnace will do wonders for its longevity, but there are also some additional steps that you can take to keep your furnace in fine working condition throughout its lifespan. In addition to changing the air filter, you should also vacuum the area around the blower to remove collections of dust and debris, too as clean each blade of the fan unit. If your furnace has oil ports located near the motor shaft or beneath a removable plate in the same area, it is also a fine idea to apply a couple of drops of non-detergent motor oil to each port.
While vacuuming out the blower area or applying oil, also look for evidence or worn belts between the furnace’s motor and its pulleys.
